“Ö1 Worte wie Musik” radio programme on how language is deeply connected to music and the musical characteristics of languages. As part of a lecture at my university called “Radio Production” together with a colleague I wrote, edited and moderated this programme.
“Every language has its own melodies and its own rhythms - think of English, Italian or French. Stresses manifest themselves differently, syllables vary in length and articulation sometimes takes on special significance. But how are the different musics of the world and their languages connected? How do lyrics sound when they are sung in a language that is not the singer's mother tongue, and can music help us to learn a new language?”
